E is for “Eat Me” #atozchallenge

Throughout April I’m taking part in the Blogging from A-Z Challenge.  I’ll be posting every day (except Sundays) on my chosen theme of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll.   For the letter E, I’m talking about the food and drink in Wonderland that was labelled with the message “eat me” or “drink me” and what this represents.       Quotes “However, this bottle was NOT marked `poison,’ so Alice ventured to taste it, and finding it very nice, (it had, in fact, a sort of mixed flavour of cherry-tart, custard, pine-apple, roast […]

Triple Chocolate Christmas Cookies!

Triple Chocolate Christmas Cookies!

Yesterday I felt like doing some Christmas baking so I had a go at making some triple chocolate cookies. They turned out pretty well, even if I do say so myself. Kids would easily be able to join in with this recipe and the cookies would make nice gifts for family and friends if decorated and boxed. Below is the recipe I used: Equipment Measuring scales2-3 baking trays2 mixing bowls2 mixing spoonsWhiskTeaspoonSieveSpatula or knifeRolling pinChristmas cookie cutters (or a sharp knife) Ingredients 200g softened butter 300g soft brown sugar 300g self-raising flour 300g milk chocolate chips, M&Ms or smarties  80g […]

Cover Characteristic (30) Cupcakes

Cover Characteristic (30) Cupcakes

Today I’m joining in with the Cover Characteristic meme hosted by Sugar and Snark. Every week the authors choose a theme and you have to pick five of your favourite book covers featuring that object. Today’s cover characteristic is one of my favourite things- Cupcakes! This was quite an easy one as there are a lot of delicious cupcake-themed cover designs around, but they are normally in genres I don’t often read-like contemporary romance. These are the ones that most appeal to me: I love the smoke font on this one and the cute horse candle. This one is a bit ‘bling-tastic’ […]

W is for White #AtoZChallenge

W is for White #AtoZChallenge

Today I’m continuing with the A-Z Blogging Challenge. This year I’m doing an A-Z of Colours. I’ll be doing a variety of posts, including haikus and poems, arts and crafts, fashion and beauty, recipes and more!     For the letter ‘W’ I have chosen the colour White. Keep reading to discover the symbolism behind this colour, see my Polyvore creations and read my white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake recipe. Symbolism White has long been a symbol of innocence and purity, the colour of angels and unicorns. It’s associated with religion as it represents goodness. Priests wear white and weddings and christenings often […]

My Wedding (Part 6) Food and Drink (and of course cake!)

My Wedding (Part 6) Food and Drink (and of course cake!)

Welcome to the sixth part of a series of posts all about my wedding, with ideas, tips, inspiration and downloadable resources. Today I’d like to talk about one of my favourite parts-the food and drink! We had a sit-down meal for about 50 people served by The Poachers Country Hotel and it was amazing! We had home-made tomato and basil soup to start, then a choice of Turkey, Beef or the veggie option (a brie, asparagus and mushroom tart), followed by an assiette of desserts (4 mini desserts on a long plate)-Malteasers Cheesecake, Strawberry Pims Jelly (served in a cute little […]

T is for Tea!

T is for Tea!

Today I’m continuing with the A-Z Blogging Challenge. The aim is to write a post for every day of the month except for Sundays, with each post representing a different letter of the alphabet. This year I’m doing an A-Z of Great Britain, covering as much as I can about British music, literature, TV and film, food, wildlife and culture. For the letter ‘T’ I have chosen Tea! There are over 3000 types of tea in the world and all of them come from the same plant-camellia sinensis. Britain is renowned for it’s love of tea, and I can’t really argue with that […]
