NaNoWriMo: Day 1

NaNoWriMo: Day 1

NaNoWriMo has finally kicked off! I have added a new feature to the blog- a box that tracks all my Nano stats-and I will be updating it daily. I will also try to post a daily update on my progress if I get the time. Although some crazy people got up at midnight to start writing, being a lazy student I spent the morning lying in bed reading magazines and not even thinking about Nano. I got up about 11am, ate my breakfast, perused the internet, tidied and hoovered the house and generally procrastinated like a pro before finally sitting […]

Best Opening Lines From Fiction

Best Opening Lines From Fiction

The opening lines of a novel or short story are probably the most important. They are the first thing that will be read, and readers will decide from that whether they want to continue, so you have to set them up well to make people want to read on. You don’t want to start with a boring paragraph of description. Here is a compilation of my favourite opening lines […]

King of the Jungle

King of the Jungle

Here’s a rare thing: me attempting digital art. I did it on 01/04/10 but it’s taken me this long to put it up. It was originally a pencil sketch, but I scanned it into my computer and painted it in photoshop. I’m a leo and lions are my favourite animals, so I love drawing them. I think this one turned out quite well.

Quotes About the Meaning of Life

Quotes About the Meaning of Life

What is the meaning of life? It’s something I often think about, but never get much closer to answering. In truth, I don’t think there is one objective meaning for everyone, but that you make your own meaning. You might feel your purpose in life is to help others, to create great works of art or literature, to make discoveries, to raise a wonderful family, to lead others, to teach people, to protect the environment or simply to be the best version of you that you can be. I don’t know why we’re here or what the point of it […]

Keeper of My Dreams Poem

Keeper of My Dreams Poem

You are the keeper of my dreams You are the guardian of my soul When I am hurt and torn to pieces You’re the only one to make me whole. You are the keeper of my dreams I know they’re safe there in your hands When I feel that everyone’s against me You’re the only one who understands. You are the keeper of my dreams I’ll never lose my faith in you When I lose my way and I am frightened You’re the one who’ll always see me through. You are the keeper of my dreams I feel protected when […]
