Get Creative at the Beach!

Get Creative at the Beach!

This month I’ve been thinking about the ways the beach can inspire us. It can be a great place to go to clear your mind as you listen to the sound of the waves, and the beautiful scenery can give you ideas for art projects. As well as that, the beach is full of natural resources that you can use in your art.   Creative Projects Inspired by the Beach Paint a picture of the beach and mix some sand in with your paint to create a realistic, grainy texture. Paint pictures onto pebbles and then glaze them with varnish […]

Digital Art: The Sorceress Returns

Digital Art: The Sorceress Returns

This is a piece of digital artwork I made using Photoshop in August 2010. The following stock resources were used: Sky Sorceress by Ailinstock Fantasy castle by nixie04 Gateway by Custard-Cream I just basically blended them together using different filter effects, changed some colours and added the shiny orbs. It’s one of my favourite pieces.

Black Rose (a poem)

Black Rose (a poem)

There are many flowers you can buy With vibrant hues that catch the eye But the most alluring flower in sight Is the rose with petals black as night.   While other roses hide their thorns, ‘Beware my deadly spikes’ she warns. She needs no flash display of colour To enchant all that gaze upon her.   Many adore the crimson rose, Her striking beauty, classic pose, But I prefer the bewitching aroma, Of modesty and gothic glamour.    There is more to her on closer inspection, Mystery shrouds her dark complexion Her secret spell is an ancient art, Her […]

Tess and the Priceless Treasure (a poem)

Tess and the Priceless Treasure (a poem)

One morning, Tess from Little Dell Was washing clothes beside the well, When Anna, Jane and Cecily Ran towards her full of glee. “Look upon our golden rings! See our shiny, handsome things. The market stalls are filled with gold, Hurry, before the best is sold!”   Tess packed a bag and hurried down, To see the fair from out of town, Where travellers showed exotic wares, Shining, sparkling traps and snares. Some were pearl (so overrated), Others gold (most likely plated). Nothing special caught her eye, So with a shrug, she passed on by.   Returning on […]

An Extra Place at The Table: a Harry Potter Fan Fic

An Extra Place at The Table: a Harry Potter Fan Fic

This is my original first draft of a Harry Potter fan fiction story for Michael’s Harry Potter blog fest, Dec 2010. The rules stated it had to be no more than 500 words, but my first draft ended up being 1200 words. So I eventually cut it down and posted the shorter version here, but if you’re interested here is the full length, unedited version. The story is set several years after the battle of Hogwarts and is all about George Weasley’s new family. I hope you enjoy it.   “Don’t look so nervous,” Fred laughed, seeing that my […]
