My Top Ten OTPs

My Top Ten OTPs

It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week there is a new topic or theme to base your top ten list on. You can find more details about it and see the list of topics here. This week’s prompt is “Best Books I’ve Read In 2018”; however, I confess I have only read 10 books so far this year so a top ten would be pointless. Shame on me.     So, I’ve decided to do a Top Ten Tuesday throwback, […]

Book Blogger Hop: My Desert Island Book

Book Blogger Hop: My Desert Island Book

Today I’m taking part in the Book Blogger Hop, a weekly hop hosted by Billy B at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer (originally created by Jennifer at  Crazy-For-Books). You can see the hop schedule here.   “Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.”   This week’s question: If you were stranded on a deserted […]

My Top Five Beach Reads

My Top Five Beach Reads

It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week there is a new topic or theme to base your top ten list on. You can find more details about it and see the list of topics here. This week’s prompt is “Books to Read By the Pool/At the Beach”. I actually don’t tend to read much when I’m at the pool or the beach, because if I lie in the sun for more than ten minutes I become a flaky lobster and I’m […]

Five Fantastic Fictional Father Figures

Five Fantastic Fictional Father Figures

As it’s Fathers Day today, I’ve been thinking about how paternal figures are represented in fiction. I read a lot of YA fantasy and sci-fi novels and I’ve noticed that father figures are often completely absent, which is a shame. Perhaps they are better represented in other genres such as romance and contemporary? If you read those genres I’d be interested to know your thoughts. Anyway, I’m lucky to have grown up with not only a wonderful father whom I adore but also a stepdad and granddads that were great male role models for me. I’d really like to read about […]

Top Ten Tuesday: Reasons I DNF (Did Not Finish)

Top Ten Tuesday: Reasons I DNF (Did Not Finish)

It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week there is a new topic or theme to base your top ten list on. You can find more details about it and see the list of topics here. This week’s prompt is “Books I Decided to DNF (did not finish) too Quickly”. I couldn’t really think of any books that fell into that category; I don’t think I’ve ever regretted choosing to stop reading a book halfway through. If I ‘break up’ with […]
