It’s release day! We’re welcoming Masquerade: Oddly Suited into the world by unmasking our characters!
Over the past couple of weeks, each of the authors has been posting an exclusive bonus scene by another mystery author, along with an illustration of their guest’s character wearing a masquerade ball mask. You can find the list of posts here. Today, we’re celebrating our book’s birthday by revealing which teaser scene was ours and sharing the beautiful unmasked version of the artwork created by Elizabeth Mueller.
Introducing Mairg from “Sea of Sorrows”
Mairg is a sorrow- a sea creature similar to a mermaid or siren but with the ability to shapeshift. I love the illustration Elizabeth created for her! Her name comes from a Scots Gaelic word meaning “pity”, “woe” or “sorrow”. If you read the story, you’ll see why I chose this name for her.
My exclusive bonus scene “The Tides Turn” was posted by Elizabeth on Tuesday 23rd-please check it out and let me know what you think!
Blurb for “Sea of Sorrows”
What could a shapeshifting siren know about love?
When ocean-dwelling shapeshifter Mairg is mistaken for Erik’s missing fiancée, she reluctantly agrees to help him find his love in order to protect her sisters. Erik gives her hope of a life free from killing, and she soon finds herself falling for him.
But her search for Aisla dredges up memories that Mairg’s guardian, the sea hag, would rather forget. Will Mairg fight against her own kin to save the girl Erik loves? Or will she embrace her monstrous nature and keep him for herself?
