The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer.

It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog. This is your news post, so personalize it! Include as much as you want or as little. Be creative, it can be a vlog or just a showcase of your goodies. Link up once a week or once a month, you decide. Book haul can include library books, yard sale finds, arcs and bought books..share them!

This week in my life

It’s been another beautiful, sunny week and I’ve been trying to make the most of it by getting outside as often as I can. I’ve been having great fun chasing my daughter around the garden and we went to a barbeque at a friend’s house earlier today before visiting my mum.

Work has been much better of late but I’m ready for a break now. I’ve been having some back pain that has made sitting in the same position all day really difficult and it turns out that I’ve strained a muscle (probably lifting my little one). I’ve also been getting numbness and tingling in my fingers that is possibly repetitive strain injury from typing or using a mouse. It’s not really surprising since I work 8 hours a day at a computer then use my laptop in the evenings for blogging. Although these are not serious issues, it’s kind of given me a wake-up call that I need to look after my health more. I need to improve my posture while working and take a proper lunch break instead of sitting at my desk, for example.

This week on the blog

Bloggiesta finished last Sunday night and while I didn’t get everything on my list done, I was happy with what I achieved. I managed to catch up with replying to comments and visiting back, updated my plugins and backed up the blog.

Blog Ahead is still ongoing but I’ve barely done anything so far. Hopefully, I can catch up this week!

I was really proud of myself for posting a piece of my own writing for National Writing Day, though. Sharing my work is something I struggle with as I always doubt myself.

Summer 2018 Comment Challenge Update

2018 Summer Comment Challenge July badgeThe June Summer 2018 Comment Challenge came to a close yesterday. I had lots of fun getting to know my partner, Olivia from Olivia’s Catastrophe. She’s got the best taste in books and I love how she discusses them so articulately and passionately in her Youtube videos. Her bookstagram pictures are so original and creative. She’s juggling her life as a student and book blogger with so many other hobbies such as creative writing, yoga, nail art, travelling and basketball, and somehow she still finds time to have fun with family and friends. I find her incredibly inspiring and you should definitely check out all of her channels!

I’ve signed up for the July comment challenge and am delighted to have been paired with Maddie from Munch Reviews, a fellow mum who loves snacks and books. I love her colourful blog design and friendly writing style and am looking forward to getting to know her better.

Writing Update

Camp NaNoWrimo 2018 badgeCamp NaNoWriMo begins today and although I’m ridiculously busy already I decided to sign up. You can find my profile here. I’m aiming to write 15000 words (just 500 words per day), which is realistic for me while I’m still working. I’m trying to create a good habit of writing daily as I procrastinate so much. Next month when I’m on holiday I’ll hopefully be able to write lots more.

What I’m reading

I finally finished the audiobook of Children of Blood and Bone and it was bittersweet because the ending was amazing but I’m so sad it’s over and I need the next book RIGHT NOW! My review will be coming soon along with my attempt at an arty bookstagram picture.

I picked up Carve the Mark again, which I actually started reading before and then sidelined in order to concentrate on CoBaB. It seems really good so far, but I feel like I’m on the rebound.

  1. Loved Children of Blood and Bone too! Where I am it hovers just under 100. I guess it’s going to be a hot summer. Good luck on your writing camp! ♥️

    • Well I had to google what 100 Fahrenheit is in Celsius and I was shocked to see it’s about 37C! That’s crazy hot. I find 21C to be quite hot enough, it rarely gets to 30 here. Camp Nano is going great, thanks.

  2. Such a nice post to wrap the week up!!

I too struggle with back pain from birth and playing with my girl all day. My husband and I are trying to eat healthier and get outside more too but the last three days have been so unbelievably hot!!

I’m so glad you enjoyed COBAB!! I loved it and need the new book now too!!

Look forward to getting to know you this month!

    • Yeah, my back issues started after childbirth too. My coccyx was misaligned and I had some physiotherapy that helped a little, but my back has never been the same. I’m hoping to get my review of COBAB up in the next few days. I’ve been a bit lazy with blogging recently but now I’ve got a break from work I’m hoping to catch up.

  3. My back often hurts at work because I’m in a desk chair all day – and I have scoliosis, so yeah, it’s not fun! I’m sorry to hear you’re dealing with that.

I’m going to sign up for Camp NaNoWriMo, so we’ll see. I’m not really aiming for a set number; I just want to try and get back into the routine of writing more regularly – but good luck to you! I also need to work on Blog Ahead this week.

  4. I sit at a computer all day, so I’m familiar with all the wrist and back aches. I’m currently lying on the floor because I couldn’t stand my desk chair anymore. Good luck with writing and blogging ahead. Have a great week!

  5. Best of luck with your NaNo goal. I can’t believe it’s come around again already. Time is just flying by. I have similar problems with my hands and arms. Carpal Tunnel from bartending and bookkeeping. You may want to do some hand grip exercises while also doing the other things you mentioned. It will help loosen things up. Sounds like you had some fun in the sun:)

    • Thanks for the advice. It seems better now I have a differently shaped mouse for my computer. I’m doing well with NaNo so far, thanks. This month has really flown!

  6. I’m in heat-wave country too as the powers that be seem intent on frying us here in Illinois. Both of your “What I’m Reading” books are on my to-read list; hopefully soon but I have a nasty habit of hoarding books for years before actually picking them up. 🙂

    • It’s not even that hot here, but we Brits aren’t used to it so we’re all dying, lol. Definitely read Children of Blood and Bone sooner rather than later, it’s brilliant.
